Took a hike thru the woods this afternoon, and this old barn is a welcome sight at the end of the trail. Hope you guys can appreciate what I went thru for this shot-not only was I bleeding rather profusely from the briar but I went thru this, literally:

Wasn't watching where I was walking and suddenly I found myself going thru the yuk in my socks. Sneakers were stuck fast. My feet smelled so bad driving home, I just had to laugh. All I could think was that I am supposed to be an adult, and I felt like a kid, going home for a scolding!

Oh this is a wonderful site indeed, Karen. Good job to get bloodied -- that's the mark of a true photographer. You did good!

And a scolding you deserve. How many time have you been told to stay out of the mud. But this barn photo is so good, I think you should be forgiven. I'd call it a productive day.

Love this shot Karen! Its rural America at its best. Now for your scolding :)
Never wear sneakers in the woods, get a good pair of hikers. Oh you left them at home.....

I like the colours and the pale colour of the sky.

Such a fine photograph - no doubt worth the effort (and the memory of what it took to make this photo will always be part of the fun of looking at it).

Given all you went through, this picture deserves a vote or two! Would have anyway, but now you've got the sympathy vote too. Reallly like old barn pics!

Beautiful shot,Karen. So sorry you had to bleed and get yourself all smelly from the mud for your Pbase friends...I'm voting too!
JeremyGood15-Apr-2005 01:51
bandito, you've got to wade through mucky, smelly swamps to get shots like this.
Beautiful barn Karen. I'll vote for it.

Absolutely beautiful, quintessential shot. Precisely what you would expect from the perfect farm photo. I've been looking for exactly this shot for 2 years, and haven't yet found it in my travels. Very nice.
