Engine 4, Ladder 16 was built in 1965 to service the southern tip of the city. Ladder 16 was established in 1965 and had a Seagrave tiller until they were equipped with one of the snorkel trucks. Ladder 16 was closed in 1976 after only 11 years in service.
Engine 4 was originally a Downtown Buffalo company. She was based with Engine 9, B-42, Squad 9,Ladder 1 and the Hose Tender at the former station on Washington and Tupper.
Engine 4 moved from those quarters in 1965 to serve South Buffalo.
