This house is located on Clevland Ave across the street from Nardin Academy

This is over by the Spot Coffee on Elmwood - the sidestreet that the outside sitting area is on I believe is the street that this building is on. I apologize that I dont know the name of the street - but the guy that bought it did a wonderful job with the house.

Where is Chemical No. 5?

Chemical Companies were "special" units back in the early days of the Buffalo Fire Department. Chemical companies used a special mixture, almost like a huge soda acid fire extinguisher to put on the fire. The Buffalo Fire Department had 6 Chemical Companies in service until 1921 when Chemical 2 and Chemical 6 were phased out of service.
Chemical 5, depicted here, was built in 1895 and built in the time of Fire Horses and haylofts. Chemical 5 was also the only company in the Buffalo Fire Department to have motorcycles attached to it. When Chemical 5 was disbanded in 1920, it became home to Engine 37 from 1920 until 1966 when Engine 37 moved to Rhode Island Street and Chenango Street in the "Big House".
Now even as a private residence, it is an awe inspiring firehouse. It is the only remaining station built for the Chemical Companies specifically and the only one done in the Art Noveau style.
