My great grandfather Charles B Nixon was a LT at this firehouse and unfortunately dropped dead there of a heart attack at the age of 42 in 1908.

Hi,my name is Darlene and I am currently living at 31 Johnson St right were Johnson St fire house stood.my home was built by habitat for humanity in 2005.I was given some information about the fire house by a couple of guys that visited the site when my home was being built. I was given a calendar off all the old fire houses in Buffalo(with pictures).I learned that the water torrent were the water to put out fires is still on my property in front of my home.

Engine 26's quarters along with Engine 28 are done in the fortress turret style. The best example of this firehouse architecture was actually integrated into Engine 27's quarters which were destroyed in the 1990's. That station had the best example of the turret.
Engine 26's quarters however have become significant in firehouse architecture.
