It was called the Shea's Niagara in the 40's and 50's when my friends and I went to the Saturday matinee -- main feature, 2nd feature, cartoons, serial, newsreel -- all for 14 cents. After buying our ticket and going in, we would stand at the entry door and ask those coming if they had any 'extra pennies'. Of course they had a dime and a penny change from their quarter they paid to enter. We would use the pennies we mooched to by our candy (nichol's wafers, ju-ju beans, etc) for the show. In the winter, we'd walk to the movie thru the snow in our boots, getting our shoes wet, sit thru the 3 or so hours of the matinee with wet feet, then go home slipping and sliding because by then it was dark and the wet snow had turned to ice. What fun!
