Qing monochrome wares inherited the simple and elegant style of the Ming dynasty,
but there were also innovations in shapes and in glaze colours. The most notable
colours are Langyao red, copper red, peachbloom, lavender blue, apple green, rouge
red and lemon yellow. The last two of the above-mentioned colours were inspired by
imported enamel colours. At the same time there was a vogue for archaism.
Beginning fro the Yongzheng period, Qing potters succeeded in producing archaistic
Song wares imitating the glazes of the classic kilns especially in the Yongzheng period.
Decorating techniques on monochromes include impressed designs, incising, openwork
and gilding.
