green corn moon emerging from moving clouds

photographed from earth near Porterfield, Wisconsin

August is the month of green corn; all over the south, Indian people
are dancing in celebration of a good harvest. The moon in August, when it
rises so slowly and so red, is called the heat moon or the green corn moon.
