We watched this squirrel cuckoo chase and catch this green catydid through the canopy, eventually landing to eat it within view of a long lens. The dappled light filtering through the canopy was tough, but when it thrust its face into the light, we were able to snap off this one image in profile. The east Andean slope variety of this species had bright red orbital skin, as opposed to the yellowish orbital skin around the eye visible in this individual of the western slope of the Andes.
