In a quarter mile drag race, with speeds of over 200 mph, it's important that the car goes as straight down the track as possible. Since there are no rear view mirrors in these rockets, two people, one in front and one behind, work in tandem to get their driver in the proper launch spot. The driver focuses intently on his back up guy.
