You found a very compelling angle for this which gives that impression of so many barriers in your way or maybe the perspective of a prisoner somewhere deep in the city, though, of course, I know you were not imprisoned. Very high impact and a great grainy old style B&W look. ~BV~

This could be under several possible bridges, but I'm going to say the Manhattan Bridge, simply because of familiarity with brick structures underneath on the Manhattan side.
