This large oil refinery, with sugarcane in the foreground, stands on land once owned, farmed and lived on by my ancestors. Marathon Oil Company bought up almost the entire community of Lions to build this oil refinery and necessary storage tanks. They then renamed the area Garyville.
It was never Garyville.
