20051204 Panoramic Recycler

Swindon, England

This metal recycling site is fairly close to the centre of Swindon, which (unlike Posh near-neighbours Bath, Oxford and Cheltenham) is a manufacturing and IT town. It grew dramatically when selected to be the operational centre of Brunel's Great Western Railway in the 19th century.

Swindon people are hard-working, even-tempered and demand value for money!

The factory to the right of this picture is where BMW make the body panels for the Mini.

The local football team is the, er, mighty Swindon Town (my team!). But we are bottom of the league and fighting off bankruptcy at present :-(

This is truly excellent. I'm voting.
I'm betting the BMW plant chose the proximity to the metal recycling plant??

Terrific pano John. Looks like a good solid, down-to-earth place to live.

Viewing this in original makes you appreciate the vastness of this gritty operation. Where is this?
