Verterans Day Tribute

Houston, Ohio

This Civil War soldier was a member of the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) After the war, many Union veterans joined the GAR, which is similar to today's American Legion. They became a powerful political action group, fighting for veteran benifits. GAR was disbanded in 1956 when the last member passed away.
