Fog Over Casper 4

This is a time exposure taken from the mountain to the south of Casper, Wyoming looking north over the town.

The town was completely obscured by a thin but dense layer of fog (clouds) at about 6500 feet. The odd colors in the shot are from the glow of various different types of street lights seeping up through the cloud layer.

The air above the cloud layer was totally clear and the air at "town level" (appx. 5350 feet) was also completely clear. From town, you just saw clouds above. From the mountain, the town appeared to have vanished - until you looked very closely and your eyes adjusted to the dark.

This is a 181 second exposure at ISO 800 and F/4.5.
