My wife has been an ebay addict for years. A few weeks ago she discovered craigslist.com and she looks at it about 4 hours a day.
Here's why: they have tons of free stuff people want to get rid of. This giant Sago palm is an example. I had to go dig it out myself, but it was worth it. Here it is in my front yard after I planted it this morning. This Sago is probably about 25 years old, has about 6 good sized baby sprouts and would cost at least $750.00 at a wholesale nursery.
We also got 4 beautiful wood and glass French doors for $400.00, an unused GE stainless side by side fridge for $700.00, and some other palms and tropical plants for dirt cheap.
I'm not sure if craigslist works this well in other areas, but in southern California, it's amazing. We also used it to get rid of some furniture we didn't want. We listed it for free, got over 50 responses in an hour, and all three of the items were picked up within three hours of when we listed them. |
