Once again, this is a shot from the New Jersey Rock Gym. I guess I spend a good amount of time there.
Tonight, there was a small bouldering (climbing) competition held at the gym. Nothing big, no fanfare.
I love the Olympics. There are so many wonderful stories that come out of these 2 weeks of international competition. But, sometimes the spirit in a local climbing gym can be just as grand. There were prizes to be won and I guess a little glory to be had. However, there still exists a certain atmosphere that has survived over the past decade as competition climbing has been evolving. Climbing has always been about challenging onself...pushing past perceived limits. When a climber succeeds against this personal challenge, other climbers applaud...even when these other climbers are also competitors. THIS is sport.

I am doing this sport (boulder). It's very nice sport and need more technique then strength. I've the strength but not the technique ;-)
We don't have this kind of the walls here in Vienna, but we do have
some very big indoor places. Actually one of the biggest in Europe. anyway....

Excellent shot.
