23-OCT-2015 Janet Donnelly

This red-shouldered hawk was part of an aviary show
at the West Palm Beach Zoo. He was well trained and
very impressive. But again, I have these mixed feelings
about animals kept in zoos. I'm sure this one is well cared
for but ...... wouldn't he rather be out there on his own!

Beautifully captured color and feather detail. Easy to see how it got its name. Voted.

I agree with you Janet. I feel so sorry for these birds which are strong fliers and need space and freedom. Perhaps he had been injured and hand reared in captivity?? At any rate, this is a magnificent, awesome shot of this beauty. V

I agree, I have very mixed feelings about animals in captivity unless sick or too injured to be released. However, this doesn't detract from the fact that this is, nevertheless, a wonderful image.
