I saw a number of Alligators around Homestead AFB in Florida.
They are nocturnal, usually sleeping during the day.

The first thing I did was check the exif data below to see if you had a long telephoto lens on-- this guy looks a bit close for comfort. Excellent detail and framing for this and he looks very menacing. V

Thank goodness for zoom lenses. ;)

Great shot of this guy relaxing although I'm quite happy that there's none here for me to snap ( or to snap me!)
Guest 14-Nov-2011 14:26
I I don't want to visit your world! :) V

What a beautiful capture of this prehistoric beast! V
The only gators we have in PA are those that crazy people release into the sewer system....
Brenda14-Nov-2011 12:29
Well done though I hope you were at a very safe distance!

Yes a very, very old form in nature.

great catch Janet of the alligator which I rather do not like to meet, just like the Australian crocodiles and snakes

They are such intriguing critters. Always a thrill for those of use who don't see them daily, to see one when visiting the south! V
Cindi Smith14-Nov-2011 02:19
LOL at Scott. Yep, can be found all over Louisiana too!

Great shot!

We have a large alligator population here in east Texas too. Every ditch and pond has a gator. They do love the sun in the winter! Great catch.
