The first of Carnival's three 46,000 ton first-generation ships in 1985. The Tropicale, Carnival's first newbuilding, was the first to sport the oblique forward superstructure and "whale tale" funnel that characterized all subsequent Carnival ships; but her smaller size and different design place her outside this class.
