The great white fleet 1985-1991

The 1980s saw the first cruise boom as the trend caught on among North Americans and lines giddily calculated that they had tapped only 5% of the potential market. Older passenger ships were renovated or reconstructed and pressed into quick service, and a new fleet of purpose-built cruise ships was born. The almost universal color of these ships gave rise to the moniker, "the Great White Fleet." Please enjoy and thanks for looking. Original size view is highly recommended.

do all of these ships launch out of beautiful tropical newport, RI? i've never been on one either, but i've been on a few aircraft carriers. i'm sure these are nicer....
