The 0-10-0 class R locomotives were the most powerful ones on Swedish tracks with their 18.8 metric tons of tractive power. As they were designed specifically to take heavy ore trains through the severe gradients on the Abisko-Riksgränsen route up in the very north, they became somewhat obsolete when the ore line was electfied in 1915. A suitable workload were never really found for them after this.
