_MG_8183 Blinded Sphinx Moth Mating

Lo and behold I realized it wasn't one bug, but two - mating! Click on "next" to see them from the rear. I'm figuring the one with the thicker body is the female. (I prefer this version to the previous one which was taken with flash.) Thanks to 10kzoomfz for starting me off on my search to identify this pair.

Very interesting things you find in your garden Isabel, I like this image, I´ve never seen so many insects together, great details, thanks for sharing, I have to see closer at my plants to discover anything like this, but my small camera wouldn´t be able to take such a beautiful macro shot, Rosemarie :o)

Great photo Isabel. It (they) may be one Nessus Sphinx Moth species, of which there are a number of varieties. Try a PBase search by "nessus sphinx" or "Nessus" or "moth".
