DSC01582. Bloodflower

Asclepias curassavica

I bought it at the Herb Festival at the Farmer's Market in Asheville, North Carolina, this spring. It's labelled, "Bloodflower" and it's related to milkweed. It was sold as a butterfly attractant.

Probably haven't seen it because it's a warm weather area plant. Will probably not survive the winter here: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/604/

Thought it looked similar to milkweed as soon as opening, should bring the critters to feed.
