Sony DSC F-717 Pictures

After several digital cameras, the Kodak DC120, Nikon Coolpix 900, Coolpix 990, Canon S10, and Olympus C2100uz, I was ready for more megapixels, a faster lens, and excellent low light focus (which some had and some hadn't). The Sony has not disappointed and continues to amaze with its versatility. Not a point and shoot. Effort put into learning to manipulate settings has rewarded me. Update, March 3, 2005: The Sony continues to amaze and be appreciated for its gorgeous straight-out-of-the-camera shots, swiveling lcd, live histogram, great lens and SILENT operation. I would proudly display images from the 717 next to my dslr images. Update: August 6, 2010. I got tired of waiting for the sensor to fail within the generous grace period Sony allowed for free replacement. Yesterday, I sent it off to their Laredo, Texas repair facility, with a commitment to pay at least $91 for the replacement, since the sensor has yet to fail as many others have...and the grace period is long gone. I value the camera too much to wait for it to fail possibly after Sony no longer has a sensor available.

Isabel- Nice work with the Sony. I have one and find it to be the best walking around camera of my (small) fleet. I too have been through a CoolPix 990, a small Canon, and now using a 20D.
Your Diane Arbus reference caught my attention most in this gallery. Print it in black and white and your are in Arbus-city!

Excellent work Isabel, I enjoyed browsing through your galleries. I have been using Sony 717 for a couple of years now and it will be a wrench to part with it if I get a DSLR. Do you find you use both cameras still?

Isabel: When I saw the pictures of the little black & white dog, I realized that it is just like a dog I had several years ago. His name was Taz. We lost him to cycotes here in Kansas. Made me very home sick.

I love this gallery Isabel. I sent my daughter home to Texas with my 717 two weeks ago and I am already cruising for a replacement before they disappear. I really love this camera for capturing my Orb Weaver Spiders at night.
