These wasps hover around the deck and dive bomb human visitors, so I took my longest lens with macro capability to capture this one, visiting a tomato leaf. They're way more intimidating than the blue mud wasps I frequently photograph as they feed on the nectar of my thyme plant blossoms. Update: Yesterday I discovered that for some inexplicable reason I had TWO UV filters screwed together on this lens! I'm removing both!
