Sandy was the son of Emil Flutie Jr. who I first met in the mid 1950's before I moved to Hialeah at Flutie Neon which was on the 200-300 block of NW 29th Street in Miami and next door to Jones Shutter Products where I hung out after school and during summers because it was owned by a family friend and my aunt was his secretary. It was a small world when we moved to the Palm Springs section of Hialeah in 1957 and the Fluties moved a block or so away.

Sandy and his brother Michael both became Hialeah Police Officers, made it a career and retired as Sergeants.
