Thanks for the comments and the hint. Again, this was a first attempt at shooting close-ups and I was more concerned with getting the focus and exposure right... just a test shot, really.

interesting shot. Distracting backround though. Try using a piece of black velvet about 2 feet behind the candle to mask out the backround. This simple technique really works. Give it a try.
