Palamino

Glen Morriston, Highlands, Scotland.

A little bit different from my purely landscape images of Scotland, though I feel that the Palamino horses are still very integral to this delightful winter scene. These two horses started off a fair way from me but within a few seconds they came over to see what I was doing. The backlighting was soft and sumptuous and the snow covering acted as a giant reflector bouncing back light into their beautiful chestnut coats. I love the steamy breath of the background horse just catching the sunlight adding further animation to this Christmas card winter image.

Image started off as a 6x7 but cropped to 35mm slide, more space being available around the horses. F8 at 1/125sec. full exif

Horses are such curious creatures. You've captured them beautifully here. I love the detail of their winter coats.
