The autofocus seems to have a small dependence on the direction to which it approaches the focus target (i.e. starting from being focused beyond or in front of the target distance). On balance, I'd like to believe I've improved the focus accuracy. I found it so scary to stick an Allen key into the mirror box to make the cam adjustment that I'm going to leave well enough alone and move on.
