This is unsharpened jpg straight from the camera. I adjusted the autofocus mirror cam inside the mirror box of my D80 to attempt to correct the backfocus, following these instructions:

The three strips correspond to three trials of autofocus with initial state of focus before auto-focusing on the target being (from left to right) focused on the target, focused beyond the target, and focused in front of the target.
