An abrupt end...

Blackburn Cathedral, Lancashire

"The Jesus Chapel is where daily prayers and the Eucharist are offered.
We call the chapel by this title since the whole building is dedicated to Our Lady, the mother of Jesus.
This chapel was one way of finishing the building, bearing in mind the sad interruption of the more ambitious plans before the War.
Originally it was intended that the nave would continue in several more bays east of the High Altar.
Instead it was decided to bring the design to a restricted scheme.

"The Jesus Chapel has a charm of its own.
Its simplicity is almost Cistercian, with a plain altar, plain windows
and superbly engraved interior glass."
