June 16, 2006: Wood Duck & Chicks

Windsor, Ontario Canada

This female Wood Duck and her *13* chicks were present in a local area where they are not normally seen.
Sharon and I got lucky in seeing them and I got even luckier
When the mother duck led her 13 chicks to the other end of the stream
So I could get this awesome capture of a string of Wood Ducks. :)

Well thank God we don't have many preditors here. Maybe they will all make it to adult. She certainly has her wings full.

Ray, I keep seeing them in our drainage ditch but then it's only the parents so I think the turtles and maybe gators get them. They are so cute when they are young.
