Accident waiting to happen

The National Park Service was in Lincoln Park earlier in the day, collecting all the branches that had fallen during Friday’s violent thunderstorm. Unfortunately nobody has fixed the light, which must have been partially knocked off the lamppost by the wind or a falling branch. It looks like another strong wind could blow it off completely, putting people and dogs that visit the park at risk.

Funny how those responsible for fixing the problem are elected on promises they make ( and fail to keep )

Yikes!

The tree looks like it could topple as well. The park does seem dangerous. You documented this well. V

Oh my, hope they get to it before something bad happens ! Nice catch. V

It's about ready to fall, nice find!

At least you have a National Park Service to take care of things. This light was probably a different department than the tree cleanup folks. Meanwhile, I wouldn't walk under that light post until the light is fixed.

You had a good eye to catch that! Hopefully you were able to alert the right people to correct the oversight.
Hank Vander Velde19-May-2025 00:58
Well observed situation and image.

Hopefully resolved soon before something similar to your previous image occurs.

Hope someone is coming to fix that. Stay clear until they do! V

I don't think they missed it. But, the people who remove the fallen trees or branches, and the people who repair the street lamps, obviously belong to two different unions. They can't do extra work that's not in their category. ~VV~

Definitely something to give a wide berth around when at the park.
Don18-May-2025 21:58
You still have a National Parks Service!
hayl18-May-2025 20:13
Focused on the ground and not looking way up I guess.

Great capture of the park in great light. I assume someone informed the Park Service in the meantime. V
