They’re back!

DC Water came back to finish the job of installing a copper pipe from the newly laid street pipes to our house, to replace what was an old galvanized, not lead, pipe. It was a huge project, and they had to tear up a lot of the street and sidewalk, but at least our house is done, although they’ll come back next week to repair the drywall around our water turn-off valve in the basement and move all the furniture back in place. We had to flush all our pipes this evening and have to drink filtered water for a while, but I’m happy the worst part is over, at least for us.

Yikes, a big mess for your front yard and the street. A cleanup for spring will await your garden.

I hope they'll be finished soon and that the garden will recover quickly.

I’ll bet that was a big job. Kind of surprised they did it in the wintertime. Those guys must be cold!

Sounds like it was necessary but quite a disruption!

Good to have this done before the old pipe failed. The new pipe should provide better flow when there is more than one person or appliance using water at the same time.

looks like it was a big work in front of your house.V.
