‘Please don’t sit on statue’

I had photographed this sculpture during the 2021 Cherry Blossom Festival, when, due to the pandemic, rather than go see the real cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin, people were asked instead to tour the city to see 26 cherry blossom sculptures decorated by local artists installed around the city http://pbase.com/helenpb/helenpbroot_cherry_blossoms

Some of the sculptures were auctioned off after the festival, and we had seen this one before in a neighbor's front garden. The sign, however, is a new addition.

Hmmm... If the sign wasn't there and you asked me if that is a chair or a statue, I would say it's a chair. (I probably just made somebody even sadder.)

I can see why they needed the sign. It looks like it is made to sit on and to many no doubt looks inviting. Very colorful.
