New Parliament House

Construction on a new parliament building started in 1981 and was completed in 1988, shortly after we left Australia. It was opened on May 9 of that year by Queen Elizabeth II. The principal design of the structure is based on the shape of two boomerangs and is topped by an 81-meter (266 ft) flagpole, which was visible from our house since we basically lived down the street from it.

Those red, white, and blue colors are lovely together and gives the construction scene a vibrant mood. V

It must have been interesting to see it going up, albeit rather slowly.

That will be an attractive building, and quite a unique flagpole.
