In honor of US service members and other victims killed in Kabul

By order of the president, flags are being flown at half-staff at the White House and all federal buildings, military installations and naval vessels in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and at all US facilities overseas until August 30.

This was a drive-by shot since I couldn’t jump out of the car to take it, plus we had to get home before today’s thunderstorm hit (to get Sahraa inside).

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

It really looks beautiful with that sky behind it. Such a sad thing, though. ~BV~

The Capitol shows off perfectly against that sky. Such a tragic situation this whole thing is. So many lives lost and after twenty years how is anything different. V

Wonderful clarity and detail in this well composed image. The foreboding sky and flag at half staff conveys the mood and current events appropriately. A powerful image for contemplation and reflection. VV++

Great shot for a drive by!
The somber sky is most appropriate for this tragedy.

It so sad, the lost of life of people helping people ... so useless and senseless. So young to have lost their lives, so full of promises and opportunities.

Another tragedy for Afghanistan and the whole western world...which seems more and more fragile and insecure...
A superb image of the Capitol.
