Assembled to pay final respects to Officer Sicknick

This was the scene on a long block of Third Street NW/SW, where the entire US Capitol Police force had gathered to await the funeral cortege of Officer Brian Sicknick, who died of injuries sustained during the attack on the US Capitol last week. The street was packed with police cruisers, K-9 vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, vans, buses and uniformed officers as well as the public and a lot of news crews.

We went down to the Capitol today because I wanted a picture of it through the huge fence that's been erected all around it. I did get a few of those on drive-by, but then we decided to park the car and see what was going on there because the road in front of it was literally packed with police officers and vehicles. It turned out that the Capitol Police were there in force to attend the funeral procession of USCP Officer Brian Sicknick, who died of injuries sustained during the seditious attack on the US Capitol on January 6 after he was reportedly hit in the head with a fire extinguisher. His death was a tragedy, and I'm glad we were there to pay our respects as his hearse passed by.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

Thank you for sharing this. Our country has entered dangerous times for our democracy. This was something I never thought we would see, and hope that we won't see again.

I saw the procession on TV. It must have been even more moving to see it in person.
