Protected

The DC National Guard is everywhere now. Unfortunately, they weren’t around when the Capitol was stormed by Trump supporters.

*****

We went down to the Capitol today because I wanted a picture of it through the huge fence that's been erected all around it. I did get a few of those on drive-by, but then we decided to park the car and see what was going on there because the road in front of it was literally packed with police officers and vehicles. It turned out that the Capitol Police were there in force to attend the funeral procession of USCP Officer Brian Sicknick, who died of injuries sustained during the seditious attack on the US Capitol on January 6 after he was reportedly hit in the head with a fire extinguisher. His death was a tragedy, and I'm glad we were there to pay our respects as his hearse passed by.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

The evidence coming out about why they weren't there is definitely worrying.

Your photo shows us the tragedy of last week. I really hope things and people will change!

It is good to see the Capiol guarded but it is sad that it is necessary to guard it. Let's hope that the next weeks stay calm
and that the impeachment can start. Trump must not not have the possibility to return to high politics in USA! Good shot! V.

All I can say is scary. Great documentary work, but so scary and it is not the America I know. V

Well, Trump has his wall, is all I can say. Hope he's satisfied with the insurrection, chaos and damage he caused all because of his pathetic narcissistic ego/ Excellent shot on your part. V

I love your capture. Strong but sad image. I hope the US wil recover from this and that the political fractions wil find each other again. That fence howerver will not stop a large group of people with bad intensions.

A very well made image on a very sad part of our times. The text on what you experienced is a worthy addition to the picture's story. ~BV~
