Seen on the way down from Jefferson Rock, the Robert Harper House, built between 1775 and 1782, is the oldest surviving structure in the Lower Town of Harpers Ferry. It bears the name of Robert Harper, who established the town of Harpers Ferry and died before the house was completed. The porches were added at a later date. For some old pictures of the house, go to http://www.loc.gov/resource/hhh.wv0163.photos?st=gallery
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
