This stunning necklace was given to Marie-Louise by Napoleon I in 1811 to mark the birth of their son, the “King of Rome.” The next picture, also of this necklace, is quite interesting!
One of the main reasons we visited Hillwood was to see this exhibit titled “Spectacular Gems and Jewelry from the Merriweather Post Collection.”
I decided to discretely attempt some shots with my iPhone as a camera would have been far too obvious. Not the right equipment for this kind of thing and the results aren’t very good, but I think it’s important to show some of the items on display since Post was a world-renowned collector of fine jewelry and it was an important part of her life.
