US Capitol Christmas Tree

This is the US Capitol Christmas Tree, an 80-foot-high Engelmann Spruce from Payette National Forest, Idaho.

I have been meaning to get by here to photograph it, but until this week it was just too bitterly cold. Tonight, it was about 45 degrees F outside, so almost balmy! I even brought a tripod, but unfortunately it was made for a Sony camera and can’t hold my Nikon vertically. Guess it’s time to look for a new one.
