“Gentoo Penguin and Chick,” Antarctic Peninsula, Antarctica, by Role Galitz, Ramat-Gan, Israel. “Highly Honored” in the “Polar Passion” category.
Galitz says: “On a windy day on the Antarctic Peninsula, a mother penguin was covering her chick to protect it from the heavy snow. I was lying on the frozen ground and waited for the exact moment when she began feeding her chick the semi-digested fish she caught earlier. Snowflakes floating in the air created a surreal feeling as I got this image.”
