We were out most of the day, after I finished work, looking for things for the house, but late in the afternoon decided to visit the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, located on the Anacostia River and close to the District of Columbia-Maryland border. We had never been there before (maybe because it’s in not the best neighborhood), in all the years we’ve lived in DC, and what a gem, something you’d never expect here. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my good camera with me, only this not-great Sony, but I’m sure we’ll go back another day, able to hopefully take better pictures.
The Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens preserves a plethora of rare water lilies and lotuses in the cultivated ponds near the river. The park also contains the Kenilworth Marsh, the only remaining tidal marsh in Washington, D.C., and an adjacent recreational area. (from Wikipedia)
