Off the Makkah Highway

We took a drive south in the direction of Jeddah looking for the popular Red Sand Dunes, but simply couldn’t find them with the sketchy directions we had. It turns out, we took a wrong turn so will try another weekend to find them. What we did go through was sort of scrubby landscape and not too picturesque, but some of the rock formations were impressive.

Superbly composed and a very rugged landscape. I can see some similarities to areas in southwestern US where erosion has carved it's own sculptures. Not a total loss on the wrong turn by any means. Voted
