Nizwa Fort was constructed over the course of 12 years in the middle of the 17th century. It has a diameter of 45 meters, a height of 34 meters and a foundation that extends 30 meters into the ground. It recently underwent a total restoration and is surrounded by a castle built in the 9th century, next to the main mosque of the town.
