Watching me watching you

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Just taking a momentary break from my Asir gallery. I saw this dragonfly in the garden earlier today, and it didn’t seem to want to move out of my way when I was trying to turn off some exterior lights, so I finally got my camera. I think I can count the number of times I’ve photographed an insect on the fingers of one hand, but I actually find these to be quite beautiful. There was an enormous beetle struggling on its back today, on my front steps. The gardener said it bored into palm trees and destroyed them. Needless to say, I didn’t photograph that one as I didn’t want to get any closer to it than I already was. Image is significantly cropped.

This is a gorgeous dragonfly. It is "obelisking", a pose they adopt when it gets really hot! VV

Nice catch. These things are hard to capture! I agree that they are beautiful.

I don't understand the difference either. I find them beautiful also. Excellent detail even if significantly cropped. Excellent DOF also.
