35-50 percent grade

Asir is a very mountainous province, and everywhere we went involved going up or down (and usually both) a steep mountain road full of hairpin curves. The people in my car (and one was an architect) estimated that some of the grades on this particular mountain were between 35 and 50 percent in places. The drivers had to turn off the air conditioning just to be able to get to the top, and brakes were smoking on the way down. Needless to say, these were thrilling rides!

We had some pretty steep grades where I grew up in West Virginia, but that's just ridiculous. V

This is not where I would want to drive!!

Wow. That is quite a grade. Coming down must be a challenge for a vehicle's braking system.

I have always wondered what these large 4WDs were for (not the ones covered in mud)
