After lunch, camels and tea, we were escorted to the UNESCO World Heritage Site where renovations slated for completion this year are currently under way. It was late and we couldn’t go onto the site with all the construction anyway, but it was a pleasant walk through the older part of Diriyah to get there. Shown are an unusual minaret, a very old mud brick house and newer concrete walls.
I imagine the concrete walls will be demolished since it's now required to only build in the old architectural style of Diriyah, down to the doors to people's property.
