Ceraurus pleurexanthemus, partially enrolled, 25 mm. Trenton Group, Rust Formation, Spillway Member, Walcott-Rust Quarry, N York

According to Brett et al. (1999), "The trilobites that show the best soft tissue preservation were buried when partially enrolled inside the layer."

A reconstruction is shown in Plate 10 (Raymond 1920).

The Ceraurus layer yielded examples of soft tissue preservation in Ceraurus, Flexicalymene and Meadowtownella.
